Jacket potatoes and garlic bread on the fire.
Bloke made a sausage casserole before we went.
Bit of a razz round on the motorbike.
A walk down to the pond to catch up with the wildlife and seasonal fruit. The girls tried hazelnuts for the first time and liked them.
The obligatory jam jar posy with feathers featured today.
Two kilos of blackberries still available to pick. I couldn't help myself!
A seasonal change from marshmallows to crumpets.
The last of the evening sun.
Sitting out in the dark, which they had never done before and found really fascinating. All the sounds and twinkling lights in the distance.
It felt great to get away for just one night for one of our little adventures. I added another seat cover to the foam seats around the table but in all the seasonal observations I forgot to take a photo of it. Only three more covers to make. Jo xx
Oh Jo these are lovely photos - really atmospheric x Jane

ReplyDeleteWell done, Jo! Good memories made and well remembered. Thanks for posting :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great outing. I want some of that sausage casserole. :-)
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful Jo, and what a lovely experience for your girls - and they will remember and remind you in later years of the lovely things you did together as a family 'when we were young'!
ReplyDeleteWarm hugs,
Joy xo
What a fab outing jo. I always think these impromptu things are the best as we expect little and just enjoy every minute. The weather has most certainly been perfect for it and your girls look so happy all cuddled up under the night sky. I am sure if is a weekend you will live to remember. Love the crumpet substitute, genius!! What fun! I don't think I would have been to restrained with those blackberries either, I would have gone in for the kill with so many options for what to do with them. My littlies collected some yesterday on their walk with dadday whilst I scooted off to the market and they will be put to good use today making a crumble. Don't you just love this time of year?! Enjoy your week lovely Jo and thanks for your sweet comments xoxo
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to spend a weekend, wonderful memories being made :) xx
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, Jo. It looks like you all had a very nice time.
ReplyDeleteToasted crumpets!! Ahh now I'm jealous :-) I'm glad you managed to get out and about, especially as we've had another kick of good weather.
ReplyDeleteTell your man his sausage casserole looks delicious! It's very exciting staying out in the dark, even when you're my age :p Probably because it's something we don't do a lot. Your kids look so cute in snuggled up in their hoods :)
What a good way to spend such a glorious weekend. It all sounds perfect, from the jacket potatoes and sausage casserole to the sitting round the campfire in the dark. That last photo of your kids is just lovely. x
