On the machine

I am back visiting the chiropractor at the moment so I am having to do crochet and knitting in very minimal bursts so on the machine is....

This soft tunic top with big pockets from Ottobre magazine.

Really simple but pretty useful I thought. I am getting a whizz at tracing the patterns now, all five pieces traced and cut out in 15 minutes!! The fabric took another 15 mins to cut out leaving half an hour of mindless serging the edges to complete my hour on the machine today. Perfect.

I am making it in autumnal colours (that is blog speak for brown!)and adding a little pocket embellishment to perk the whole thing up but I will surprise you with that later.

Are you sewing or knitting at the moment? Jo xxxx

  1. That looks like a useful top. I'm doing knitting and crochet at the moment. But when I have finished that, my sewing machine will get an airing. I'll be making little girls' dresses and maybe some shorts.

  3. Looks like a very nice go-anywhere-anytime top Jo; I imagine there may be more than one made from this pattern? I'm knitting and sewing at this time, thank you for asking.
Have a great Sunday! Joy x

  6. Hi Jo this will be gorgeous and I can't wait to see it finished. I finished the cowl for my granddaughter and delivered it last night - she asked for two more and I am so happy because (1) it is so easy to do and (2) I have had the chunky yarn in my cupboard for years and now finally I have found something to do with it! Yippeee.........I did send for the magazine you are using here - not the same one but something similar with children's patterns in but can't manage to fathom out the pattern cutting yet. You have been dedicated and patient and done it and I really admire you for that - maybe I should return and have another look? Hope everything is ok with you Jo, do take care and look after yourself. Have a lovely relaxing Sunday, big hugs to you as always

  7. I will have to have a peek at this Magazine as I now have a granddaughter and hope to make things for her. I have 3 sons and was only able to make their clothes until they reached that certain age were they objected ;0)
I have never tried to trace a pattern (how hard can it be te-he?) This will be another skill to learn and where can one get the tracing paper!!!!
    Thanks for a great blog.

  8. Oh dear sorry you're back is bad, hope the rest and help if the chiropractor sorts it out. I know I can't do much crochet at once and these days I'm mostly spending my time sewing too. I love the look of that top, very versatile bin impressed with your quick cutting and tracing. Xoxo
