Clamshell purse

These are fun. A clamshell case using a Clover template kit. I made this on the train after cutting them out at home.

The kit comes from Minerva crafts and includes the plastic template kit with instructions, and a pack of fat quarters.

so neat and perfect for very little effort

It was featured on the Christmas gift episode of the Sewing Bee in December 2013 and hung as a bauble with a surprise inside.

What gift would you pop inside?

Thanks Minerva, Jo xxxx

  1. You could put in anything ranging from one chocolate sweet to a necklace. I saw a woman crocheting on the train today. I've never seen anyone making a purse!

    1. I often crochet on the 2 hr train journey to see my daughter in Leeds. I take nail clippers instead of scissors, but I don't think it was me this time.

  2. It is lovely Jo, and I remember seeing it on the Sewing Bee. It would be great to use it as wrapping for a gift of jewellery to someone and then they could keep the item safe in there for travelling too. Or it would make a great travel case for jewellery or your watch or something in any case! xx

  5. What a great idea and how pretty you've made them Jo! Wow, you could pop a pair of cute earrings in there, or maybe a crocheted flower brooch; it could also be used as an emergency sewing kit - what fun to let the imagination run riot! xoJoy

  7. Very clever design! My mom had fun making ornaments for our Christmas tree...different shapes, but she popped a sweet inside each and our kids loved investigating them for treats :) xx

  8. You could put little good luck sayings in them, a bit like Fortune Cookies, and have them as favours at a wedding.

  11. They're so cute! I think I've seen eyeglass cases made this way. I would use the purses for all the little flotsam at the bottom of my bag.

  12. A nice chocolate would fit perfectly inside, but I would not want it to melt. I love it.

  13. Hi Jo
I ordered a Clover template kit as soon as I saw the lovely Patrick perform his magic last year.
I even found suitable acetate and cut myself a couple of copies. Sourced some Silk ties from Charity Shops, unpicked and steamed out the creases (of the ties, I mean) and that is as far as I got.
Now I must go and hunt it out ;0)
    Hugs
