Baby Girl Ripple Blanket

"That pink isn't really your thing," my man commented. If we were on the quiz show Mr and Mrs we would do quite well I think. The baby pink isn't really my thing but I have had this selection of wool in my stash for a while now and wanted something easy to make in the evenings when my brain cells are spent.

Can you believe that in all the years I have been crocheting things, I have never done a ripple pattern? It is so soothing and rhythmic - I absolutely love making it.

Sure, I am not mad for that candy pink but used sparingly amongst the beautiful pastels it is just fine for a baby girl blanket. I have a few baby celebrations coming up over the next year. I will have all bases covered if I add an obvious girly blanket to my gift box.

The wool was all given to me and a free blanket that is soft, soothing and sumptuous is just what I have been looking for on the crafting front.

Have a good week folks. Jo xxx

  1. I really love the pink and have promised myself a pink hat. it looks so pretty with the grey. The ripple is a favourite - I much prefer it to a granny stripe.

  3. So pretty! It reminds me of Neopolitan ice cream. I love it so much. Ripples are just wonderful. As you know I'm making one right now. It's easy to get addicted!

  4. I am a fan of a ripple, it soothes the soul. Love the colour combination. Although I have three Grandaughter's only one of them is a fan of pink so it is a colour that I usually overlook.

  5. Jennifer nailed it, it does remind me of Neopolitan ice cream, too. Delicious and sweet, soothing for the soul - just like your baby blanket. Funny, I must be the only one in the world who doesn't like rippling. In fact, I can't bear it. Love to look of it but don't love making it... not a winning combination. I am a V-stich girl for crochet blankets. Have a lovely week. x

  6. Hmmm...now I am thinking that I could try making a gentle ripple preemie blanket with some yarn I have been given. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful work, Jo! xx

  7. Ripple is something I have not conquered either yet but as I have mastered the waffle stitch pattern I'm sure it will just be a case of sitting comfortably without interruption and concentrating for a while. May be it should be my new years resolution to finally learn. The pink may not be your thing but always a good idea to have a little something in the gift box to suit any occasion.
