Harvest shawl

I have finished a Harvest Berry Shawl from Moogly. It has been on my Ravelry wishlist for a while now because I was looking for another shawl to make as gifts this year. I have made five Elise Shawls over the last two years so I fancied a change.

The yarn is Rowan Creative focus. It is 50% wool and 50% alpaca. I had near enough two balls left from my Miette cardigan from last year.

The pattern makes up quickly (three nights) but it is not my favourite because the edge is quite scruffy. I tried to double crochet all the way around to straighten it up, but in the end went for a frilly edge to disguise the fact that the sides are not straight due to the pattern repeats, even really aggressive blocking didn't sort it out.

I like it nonetheless and it will be a great gift for someone I have in mind. My mum has since given me her two left over balls in purple to have a go at another one.

This is my shawl pin but I think I will order a few more for pressies so that each shawl comes to the new owner with a pin.

One for the present box.

Thanks for popping in and leaving such encouraging comments of late. I have some really kind blog friends who I look forward to hearing from each week. Love Jo xxxx

  2. Ooh doesn't that look nice? Especially at the end with the shawl pin, the shape of the shawl means it hangs and drapes beautifully. That is exactly as I would like to wear it. I think I might like that as a present - for myself! Would you be able to tell us where you got the shawl pin from? It looks great with the shawl. Who ever gets a lovely shawl from you this Christmas is going to be very lucky!

  3. p.s. I've looked at all the others in Ravelry project pages and without a doubt yours is the nicest - best colour and best photos. The way you have it draped, is much the loveliest way to wear it.

  11. What a super gift for someone. And a useful pattern if it only requires 2 balls of yarn. I like the idea of the pin too.
