Hooray! Elise Shawl

I didn't really want to tag my title with the usual Hooray! because the reason I finished my shawl yesterday is because Little M was poorly in the night and had to stay home from Pre-school so I have been pootling, tidying and mothering.

They are called 'sick blankets' in this house for a reason.
Then she fell asleep, the sun came through the window upstairs and I had a little sit down in the afternoon for an hour.

I made up this droplet edging which I am quite pleased with. Blocking out 92 little bobbles with pins was not so much fun but it passed away the evening. I added little beads too to help weigh down the droplets, all different ones.

I gambled how much yarn I would need for an edging and I was pretty spot on considering at the point of stopping the main shawl to make the decision, I had no idea what border I was even going to do. I like to live life on the edge! This is what was left...Phew!

Somehow I don't think this will be my last Elise shawl. A little break and a shuffle through my thin yarn stash and I am sure I will find more wool calling out for this oh so easy pattern.

Happy Weekend all. Little M is much better this morning. Jo x

  9. Hooray indeed! That is a marvellous shawl - you should demand a nice dinner out with the Mister to show it off! Such a sweet photo of your little one all cozy with the blanket, even if she was poorly. It shows the comforts of home and motherhood and lots of love! Chrissie x

    1. That is pretty ironic actually Chrissie because we had planned to go out for dinner with a table all booked for my Birthday on Friday night and we thought we better not leave her so we didn't go, but there will always be another time.

  12. Sorry that Little M was sick, glad to hear that she is better now, it is good that you were able to take some time to finish your shawl. It really is beautiful and you did so well to only have such a small amount of yarn left! I hope that you enjoy making another one if you do decide to do another. xx

  16. Happy Birthday lovely Jo! I'm sorry you missed out on your night out and so sorry little M has not been well but glad to hear she's recovering. You've done a lovely job with the 'Elise' - it's such a beautiful thing, and didn't you manage the yarn well, close, but plenty! I printed out that pattern some time ago but haven't got around to doing it yet . . . . . maybe one day . . . . I do like your chosen colour too! Hugs, Joy x
