Elise Shawl
Last night I started my shawl with my Christmas present wool - Shilasdair hand dyed Luxury 4ply, made from 10% cashmere, 10% baby camel, 40% angora and 40% merino lambswool.Dyed using juniper berries from the cliff faces of Skye! It is a free crochet pattern I found on Ravelry called Elise and I am totally in love with making it.
For the first time ever, I have found following a drawing easier than following the written instructions. Bloke said 'does that make sense and is that what is helping you to make that shawl' I replied 'Yes, but I couldn't follow one of your wiring diagrams could I?!'
Just look at the subtle colour variety, I have never worked with yarn that has the word LUXURY on the skein band. It is totally delightful.
Will keep you posted but I think it is going to be quite quick, maybe a few weeks.

that is such a beautiful colour Jo!
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful, and that yarn, wow, luxury indeed. I didn't even know you could knit with baby camel. It's going to be beautiful when it's done.
ReplyDeleteBoth yarn and shawl are beautiful! Great that you are finding it straightforward to follow the pattern as well! Another new skill under your belt. xx
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you are taking on the Elise Shawl, you will not be disappointed. I have made six of them, the pattern is so easy to remember after a few rows you will be crocheting in your sleep.
ReplyDeleteLove the yarn color, it is going to be beautiful.
Hugs,
Meredith
That shawl is lovely and I can only imagine how soft the wool is with that composition.
ReplyDeleteOoo la la! Talk about an indulgent gift! You must be having so much fun working with that yarn - the colour is stunning! I look forward to seeing your progress, and well done for figuring out a diagram - I've tried, I end up marking the thing so I don't lose my place, I just don't have the hang of it yet...Chrissie xx
ReplyDeleteLovely work, and lovely color, Jo! Thanks for letting me admire it :) xx
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, I hope you had a good Christmas, how was the river by you, we haven't ventured over that way.. Oh my gosh, you lucky girl, that yarn looks and sounds lush. The pattern is so pretty, I'm off to put it in my Rav queue, my Gran was called Elsie, so I can see myself eventually starting it.
