I am building up to showing you a show stopping dressmaking project but first you are getting sneak previews of the accessories I have made to go with it. The shrug was the first item and now I have a matching handbag in the same yarn.
I made up the pattern as I went along. I did write it down but that is a job for another day. The chain comes from a company called bag clasps who I have used before. They have all sorts of bag and purse accessories. Excuse the nail polish, we were belly dancing at a folk festival last the weekend.
It is an evening bag, big enough for my purse, phone and a lipstick!
The inside is lined with navy crepe - the leftovers from my outfit. I'm teasing you now....
Thanks for looking. Jo xxx
Very classy bag - looking forward to seeing the whole outfit.
ReplyDeleteI saw some body dancers at a 'fun day' during the holidays. They were lovely to watch. It made me think very much about body image as the most beautiful and 'exotic' movers were far from being the most sleek and slim. They did though look beautiful by any standards. They were uninhibited and free to dance and were therefore showing their true selves. I loved that they felt confident enough to do that, because I know I am not. They enjoyed dancing and watching it was lovely too. Also for all ages as there was a very elegant grey haired lady dancing too. I know that is all a bit besides the point of your post but it was a thought-provoking experience and a very positive one.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, your bag is really very nice. I love the design of it and it looks lovely - a very nice stitch pattern. I'm hoping to be able to make some things that I have come up with myself soon too. Not easy! Looking forward to seeing your posh new dress too.
Glad you enjoyed watching the dancing. I am the youngest in our group at 42. We are all shapes and sizes, some with grey hair, some with short hair but we all love dancing and being together. People always make the same comments as you, they say it looks liberating - and they are right. Jo x
DeleteBeautiful!!! I am really looking forward to seeing the whole outfit! I am sure that you are going to be beautiful!!! xx
ReplyDeleteYou are certainly teasing us, come on show off and show us the outfit in all its glory. I am guessing it is a ball gown for the black tie event.
ReplyDeleteThat bag is just perfect. You couldn't find a better one in an expensive shop.
ReplyDeleteI am excited to see the grand finale! The bag is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful little bag! It looks perfect But I am not a person for small bags, I always need big ones. But it is a good idea to just use dark navy. It looks very elegant. Viola
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely make, I shall certainly take a look at the clasp/handle company you suggested x
ReplyDeleteThe sparkles in your nail polish go well with your lipstick bag. Love it! Can't wait to see the dress. x
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for the big reveal, love the bag.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
Please don't tease me, it's just not fair.
ReplyDeleteI like the bag; just big enough for the necessaries of life!
Elegant! I love the pattern of the bag, Jo. I crocheted a clutch bag out of wool I had processed...from washing to spinning, but chose to do it in tight single crochets so that it was more of a solid material...utilitarian :) xx
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous! Love the navy yarn, very understated and elegant. I'm building up to crocheting an evening bag, I must get going on it.
