All work and no play

You can't have a week to yourself and do all work and no play. In the fabric clear up earlier on in the week I put aside two rolls of ribbon, cut out a card template and selected pieces of fabric that were going nowhere fast but were too pretty to throw away.

I cut out bunting, loads of it, with pinking shears for speed.

I actually needed more than the 6 metres of pink ribbon I had so I reached up to my new wall shelf and slid out a long piece of green too. What is it for?

It does have a purpose, it is for the cabin because Big Sis had her 7th-Birthday-Bug-Party there today so I thought it would cheer the place up a bit. I don't know what a bug party was supposed to be but I think it involved finding minibeasts in magnifier pots, going for a pond dip and everyone eating sandwiches!? They were all smiling anyway.

Toasting marshmallows.

Searching for hanging sweets with jokes on in the trees. The jokes are from here.

I had a fruitful roam around pinterest for a butterfly inspired birthday cake and must share this link with you for brilliant cake inspiration. It shows exactly how to cut it. (I think I might have done it upside down) The children were involved in the decorating so it is a bit wild.

Happy Birthday Heidi!

  1. I suppose a bug party can be anything you want it to be when you are at their age. Even the simplest things are fun for them, it doesn't take much to entertain them either. I know that from raising my 2 girls, and now having a 2 year old grandson it brings back memories. Just the other day I had some bubble gum and showed him what blowing bubbles was, oh my, by the time my poor jaws and mouth were sore and we had to put the "gum up for it's nap" seemed so silly to me, but very serious to him. That is what I love about children, their innocence and how you can entertain them with next to nothing. Your bunting is cute. I keep meaning to make one some day.

  4. Ahh, my daughter is named Heidi. But she is 41, hah. I just hung a big banner in one of our bedrooms and I love it too. My brands love bugs, esp. the four year old.
