Hooray! Sedge Stitch Infinity Scarf

Linking up with Marianne and Chrissie with their CAL today to show you my sedge stitch infinity scarf. I have been playing around with the length of this scarf for a while and I think I have it right now. I am not a massive fan of the cowl, it sort of neither keeps my neck warm because it is too baggy or doesn't seem to hang and fold exactly where I want them to so I designed this.

It used the sedge stitch that I really enjoyed doing from the man blanket. It is great for this type of scarf because the pattern appears diagonally so it looks like it is spiraling round your neck.

To stop it being too curly and plain, I added the border on the top and bottom similar to the one I did on the Elise shawl. On each point is a ceramic Greek washer bead from beadsite. (I love their beads) The colour match was really good and I mixed them in with some others I had left over from a previous project to make up the 164 I needed.

Did I write the pattern down? Sort of but I need to do another one to double check. I did not choose this yarn, it was given to me so now I know it is what I want I can go on ahead and choose another yarn to give it a proper go.

Do you like it? What are you crocheting at the moment?

  2. This is beautiful Jo and I agree with Clare, the beads really make it. I feel the same as you about cowls generally...glad I'm not the only one who feels they don't usually keep my neck warm! Thanks for linking up.

  20. Hi Jo sorry I have been absent for a short while, work as usual dominates my life at present. I love this, I cannot usually wear anything like this as it tends to look untidy on me - funny how everyone else looks fab in one! However this one looks particularly neat and lovely so I would wear it, you always come up with something unusual and fab Jo which is why I love your blog. Have a great weekend. Big hugs and kisses

  21. I know exactly what you mean about snoods! I only have one (and sadly I didn't make it) which fits snugly and doesn't leave my neck cold. This one looks like just the right size though and I love the bead work, and how different it looks when wrapped around on itself! It's reminded me of this actually (because of the beads) which I saw recently and even though I'm not a shawl person I absolutely love it:

As for crocheting, just more squares although they;re on a long term hiatus while I knit my friends blanket :-)
