Blood Sweat and Medication

It has been a hard week here at Three Stories High. Although I have been posting last week, those projects are in time lapse and are from the week before or earlier.

I suffered a back spasm on Bank holiday weekend Sunday which I get when I am extremely stressed - I have only had them twice before but the pain is unbearable for sitting, walking, moving or indeed crawling to the toilet on my hands and knees (I'm not joking) Big Sis has been putting my knickers on in morning - oh the dignity of it all. And to top it off Little M had a sickness bug for two days which is quite a tricky thing in a three story house when you are crawling between floors and wishing secretly that she was just at school so that you can have a lie down.

I have been taking diazepam, an anti-inflammatory and codeine which has knocked me senseless. So if I have been commenting on your blogs forgive my spelling and general incoherence. Annyyywayyy...

My man has been valiantly putting up the cabin on his own without my help and it has been very hard work. A week after the tablets have kicked in and two trips to the Chiropractor I enjoyed some fresh air at the farm yesterday.

We started the process of moving everything from the farm sheds across the field to the new cabin. I think all I managed to lift was a wicker chair! but they kept bringing me boxes of cups and things to put back in the cupboards while I sat down.

It was warm and humid but the children enjoyed rides across the field on the tractor. Before you think you are going crazy the hitch for the trailer is on the front of the tractor so Bloke had to keep reversing back and forth across the field.

So it is up, not fully at the ta dah! stage but we enjoyed cold drinks, homemade quiche and a sit in the sunshine with our bestest outdoor friends marvelling at the what a family can do if we all pull together and give each other a leg up and a bit of a hug.

Here's to a pain free week. Love Jo xx

  1. I have never had a back pain like you describe, it sounds awful. I have witnessed Richard pulling himself along the floor on his stomach to get somewhere though and have good idea of how difficult your life must have been last week. I hope this week is better! Glad your new cabin is up. It looks like the girls had great fun helping. x

  4. Bless your heart and your back too! I have been there so I understand the pain, but a bad back with a sick child is really horrible. You somehow have to make it work, as Mom's we have no other choice.

Here is to a pain free week for you!

  5. Mt heart goes out to you there is nothing worse than a sick child when you are not well yourself. Here's hoping for a better and pain free week. Congratulations on getting the cabin back up, looking forward to seeing it. Take care.

  6. Oh no Jo I'm so sorry to about your back. It's not a case with you ( oh I've got back ache) when it goes oh boy does it go. Glad to hear that you are on the mend though. Had a little giggle at big sis putting on your knickers though. My word those girls are growing up so fast the length of their legs is quite disgusting really. They'll be taller than me soon. , and that's just not fair. Jackie

  7. I'm so glad your cabin is coming together. It looks like it will be really nice from the photo. I'm sorry about your back injury and your little one's illness. Poor Jo. I understand completely, as I have some problems with my back and they always seem to flare up when literally everything else is already going on. I hope you're back to normal soon. Take care and have a good week.

  8. Mercy! I am over here making sympathetic groans for you, Jo. I had two similar bouts with back muscle spasms when my girls were little. I'm so glad you have family and friends to help you through it all and that you are healing! Would you believe that on Saturday I leaned over to put a craft box back on the shelf and felt a twang in my lower back? I was trying to organize a craft for my grand girls to make for their mom for Mother's Day yesterday. Instead, I have used ice and heat and some Ibuprofen to heal, but am able to walk almost upright and am not in the dire situation you have been in. I'm glad the cabin raising is progressing, and hope that your days will get better and better!xxxxxxxxxxx
