White tree fabrics sent me this gorgeous Liberty print called Wiltshire which is a cotton lawn ideal for lightweight summer trousers.
I saw a free pattern attached to Sew home & Style magazine in the March issue and it looked quite perfect. The whole magazine was great actually. My lovely neighbour bought me the February one for my birthday and I was lured into getting the following edition.
They don't have a waistband, I used bias binding on the top of mine.
There is an invisible zip on the side so the front is smooth.
So get out to a newsagents/supermarket, grab the magazine and free pattern, dust off your machine and choose your favourite Liberty print.
Looking forward to this week's episode. Come on Amanda, she is a fellow White Tree Fabrics blogger! Jo xxx
Your trousers look lovely. I too love Liberty print. I'm making a top at the moment in "London Transport". pattern . Its floral with thin line drawings in the background.
ReplyDeleteThey turned out really cute!
ReplyDeleteHi Jo I love your trousers and I'm certainly enjoying the sewing bee. The contestants are all so good this year...what a high standard.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to Amanda's site.

I loved the trousers from episode 1, so much so that I bought a very similar pattern to make my own summer trousers too ;)
ReplyDeleteYours are just lovely, so pretty and -well - summery :)
They're great! I love the fabric and the pattern's really lovely as well :)
ReplyDeleteThese are just lovely - I really need to get over my mental block about my ability to make trousers, so thanks for the inspiration. That fabric is fab too :-) Am loving the current series too & have added the book to my wishlist.
ReplyDeleteBtw have you received the emails I've sent regarding our bloggy meet-up? Hope you can make it,
xx
Well done, they look really lovely & light. As you say perfect for wearing during the summer. I shall have a nose for the magazine when I am out & about next. I missed the first two episodes but really enjoyed last weeks. x
ReplyDeleteLove the fabric Jo! I looked at that mag yesterday, but didn't buy it I may go back for another look!

Gorgeous Jo - and how lucky you already have a coordinating top! It's so lovely to start seeing summery clothes again even though I'm sitting here typing this with my woolly shawl wrapped tightly around my neck! Hope to meet you soon x Jane
ReplyDeleteLove the trousers - they caught my eye as well. I saw that magazine the other day but I didn't buy it, although I thought about it. The colours are lovely and your top goes really well with the pretty floral fabric. I'm a bit wary of fitting trousers, I think that's why I didn't buy the pattern. You've done a great job though.

These have a flat front and two darts in the back (this is how you control the waist measurement against your hip measurement) No waistband. Just two front pieces and two back pieces. Have a go. Use an old sheet or duvet cover first just to see if you can do it. Then choose so wacky fabric with confidence. Jo xx
DeleteI do love your new trousers. That print is especially nice.
ReplyDeleteYou look great.
Yep - I love those trousers Jo.
I have the mag and pattern, the fabric is chosen and cutting will commence once the ironing is done. I am going to make my bias binding with the same fabric, only because I do not have any suitable.
ReplyDeleteThey are great Jo!! I love the fabric that you chose, just right for summer and a great match to your blouse too! xx
ReplyDeleteI love those, very Audrey Hepburn! You are going to rock the summer x
ReplyDeleteFabulous trousers Jo and I love the fabric. They will be gorgeous in the summer with flip flops and a white vest.

They're really good Jo! The invisible zip is so neat, and love the print. I've been avidly watching TGBSB, it's my absolute fave. I think one of the blokes might win it which would be fab, can't remember his name but he's the army guy? X
ReplyDeleteReally lovely. So fresh. Trousers are on my list.....
ReplyDeleteOooh, I thought I spied Liberty fabric! I seriously love that pattern, it's one of my favourites. The trousers look completely gorgeous on you. They'd look great with a plain white t-shirt too. Very versatile. xx
ReplyDeleteThese are really gorgeous and such a good fit.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a beautiful liberty print pattern and the style and fit of the trousers are excellent. Well done you look great in them! Any liberty print would be fantastic with that pattern. Very funky!
