because it was easy...

Over the Christmas holidays I didn't really have a yarn project that I could get stuck into with the limited amount of brain space I had available so I plumped for some simple granny crochet.

After assembling a little pile of sock yarn scraps in harmonious colours I made my third granny triangle scarf from the pattern on the left sidebar.

Not a scrap of brain power was required but it allowed my mind to rest each day after Christmas preparations.

I managed to use the rainbow yarn throughout the scarf so that the bright colours appear like little jewels. This one does not have a beaded edge but it was blocked which created a wonderful drape.

If any of you have a stash busting craft resolution - and I bet lots of you have - try the granny stitch shawl on the left in any yarn gauge.

Happy Crochet. Jo xxx

  1. Looks like a great project for stash busting. I have just been given my Mums yarn stash so I see a couple of those in my future.

  3. Beautifully done, I love it. And I love that it was made from scraps. Visiting here via Christine at A Colourful Life, what lovely things you make. I shall enjoy following along.

  4. Sock yarn is so colourful isn't it? I've been using some to knit long strips, to sew into a huge blanket which will be folded in half for thickness, to use in the summerhouse when I go in there to meditate, on chilly early mornings in spring and summer. The rest of the time I am a coward and stay indoors in the warmth. I made a triangular shawl like this so many years ago, but it's such an easy shawl to make I think I could probably do it again, with sock yarn maybe...like your blog by the way.

  7. You've got to have a simple to grab project for the Christmas holiday's don't you? A pick up and put down thing. I love your scarf, the colours work great together.

  8. That's lovely and has reminded me of how much I enjoy crocheting a big square blanket. Maybe I will start one soon.

  10. Thank you Jo, for the patterns that you put on your blog. I have just made the scarf from one large ball of dk wool in a kingfisher colour. Picot edged. Also another of the cable hats. I am going for a few days in Eastbourne in 2 weeks time. ( brrrr) haha. The knitwear will be coming with me ! Thank you again.
