I don't do much cross stitch anymore. I used to when I was younger, worked as a full time teacher and time to craft was short. Now I prefer to make things which my family need because I have less cash and more time (sort of!) After the DMC workshop I attended at CHSI Show earlier this year, I got to have a go with these new variegated threads.
This is the sort of cross stitch I can enjoy. No colour changing just making a pattern and enjoying the process of calmly hand sewing. The threads are truly beautiful.

This little number is to hang in the new cabin when it is finished as a celebration of our hard work and determination to put one up all over again. My brilliant bloke, his dad and his brother are there right now with hammers and nails working their socks off (none of my dodgy socks I might add!)

Ps. The colour I used is coloris if you wanted to know what it was called.

So jealous you got to go the the chsi show! These variegated threads are brilliant! My mum used to use them for putting braids in my hair x
ReplyDeleteYour cross stitcj looks so beautiful. I have never seen variegated threads, our little local yarn shop just stocks the monochrome ones. Viola
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cross stitch I love the variegated thread, a wonderful array of colour. Looking forward to seeing the cabin, exciting times for you all.
ReplyDeleteI hope the cabin raising is going well, and I admire the cross stitch you have prepared to hang in it. I have never used variegated thread in the few cross stitch projects I have done but like their effect on your piece. It promises to be a sunny warm day here and I plan to plant some purple petunias :) xxxxx
ReplyDeleteFirst of all not dodgy socks they work they fit so must be practical not dodgy. Love the cross stitch was thinking of starting mine up again but so much to do no time. Don't know where it goes supposed to be loads of time when you're retired. Love the new shades in the skeins bought one skein to do a project ( not started yet, refer you back to my earlier comment), but hopefully soon who knows not a cross stitch though. Jackie
ReplyDeleteI recently used the variegated threads and they are so lovely to use. Looking forward to seeing your finished cabin.
ReplyDeleteThat's so sweet, Jo. I enjoy using variegated threads sometimes too, for the same reason. I like variegated yarns too. I can't wait to see your cabin!
ReplyDeleteI love your stitching and it will be perfect for that new cabin of yours. I don't cross stitch, but I am in awe of those of you who do.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
