I have a collection of 'ladies' oddments in the front pocket of my work bag and last week they were all over the boot of my car as my bag tipped over. Why have I not got a make up bag???
So I made one in 45 minutes to attempt to feel successful at something and it worked. It gave me time to put things in perspective and feel a whole lot better.
I love this kind of Guerrilla patchwork. No measuring and perfection just joyful sewing in rows.
I didn't care that the front and the back didn't match, that was not the purpose of this kind of functional project. It was to solve a problem and feel positive.
I used Left over Liberty Wiltshire from White Tree Fabrics and left over patchwork quilt border fabric. It is a perfect fit in the front pocket of my bag, one less thing to go wrong....
Objective Achieved! Feeling like 'I can' again.
Thanks for looking. Jo xx
Guerilla patchwork - I like it! Planning to do some myself this weekend. Hopefully work is better today. x
ReplyDeleteLove your zippered pouch! I have one in my bag as an on the move medical kit, savlon for skinned knees, plasters etc. But using scraps to make a functional item is like a legal high!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a better day today, funny after a bad week I would only make it worse sewing!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
Great job Jo!! It is good not to have bits and pieces spilling out everywhere isn't it. Your pouch is very pretty too! xx
ReplyDeleteOh your post did make me smile Jo as when my kids were little and they would say 'I can't' my answer was always 'well you couldn't walk at one time but you can now' and this has followed them into adult hood and certainly my daughter has said this to her friends on more than one occasion. Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteI love your work bag! And, your new little bag to organize it. Great job! Enjoy! :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I actually love that it doesn't match - has much more character that way! Also, useful always beats "matchy"! :D
ReplyDeleteGuerilla sewing is almost as good as a well deserved ale. These colours are great.
ReplyDeleteA great job, I loved the term guerrilla sewing you made me smile so I am feeling a little better too.
ReplyDeleteI'd say you succeeded Jo!! It is so lovely and the colors are fantastic!!!!! Now here is to a stress free wonderful weekend with your family!! Nicole xoxo
ReplyDeleteGuerrilla sewing is easily the best sort especially when the result is a success! I too have ladies oddments rattling around in my bag, must rustle something up!

It's lovely - and better than anything I could do! - but the important thing is it made you feel better and restored your confidence. x
ReplyDeleteBravo! So glad you made something both cheery and useful, and a good recovery from difficult times at work, Jo. My nemesis at work was the copy machine and sometimes the various computers I was required to
ReplyDeleteuse...then there were other dyslexic moments I had when tutoring... Ach! :-)
