Hexagaon Shortcut

I have been looking for one of these for ages. It is a fabric glue pen and takes the tedium out of paper piecing. This one is from Simply Solids and was recommended to me by Gilly from Gilly Makes.

You cut out your hexagons in paper and fabric.

Then apply the glue to the paper pieces. It is a sort of sticky and waxy, soft crayon.

Then fold over the fabric to make your hexagon. The glue is instant and it sticks without holding it down for ages. Then when you have neatly stitched them together you can pull out the papers.

More time on the relaxing stitching bit rather than the boring preparation. More of that I say. Jo x

  2. Wow Jo how fabulous is that, I love it and will be definitely sending for one of these - hexagons are a particular favourite of mine as I can hand stitch them and feel a tad more confident than when I am using the machine. As always Jo you come up with something different and unusual, fab! Have a wonderful day Jo, big hugs to you as always

  4. So clever! I have a hexagon patch work in one of my wip baskets, I am ashamed to admit that I haven't made one hexie this year! I keep saying to Alice it will be her 18th birthday present at the rate I am going...this might motivate me to be a bit more enthusiastic about picking thus project up again x thanks for sharing x Penny

  6. That's a good idea. I've long wanted to make a hexie quilt but am often put off by the length of time it will take. This should make it quicker!

I've enjoyed a good catch up here. You are so good at posting regularly! Thanks for your blogging friendship this year, I always appreciate your comments. We have a lot in common I think. Have a lovely weekend. x

  7. What a great find. It is nice when someone else has tried something out first. Then you know that it works.
