Building Gallery

By way of a little house update here is a gallery of things we have ALL been doing over the Summer. I won't bore you with the details you can add your own commentary. Busy, Busy...

And just in case you thought we were nearly finished because I made a noticeboard - here is the upstairs!

The weather will soon change and I have stepped away from the house for a rest. Andy continues to go every weekend but I have been neglecting the girls, skipping family jobs and getting a bit frazzled. This Saturday we changed the bed sheets, went to the park, did some baking, went to a local craft show with my mum and completed all homework tasks. My youngest said, "I have enjoyed today, this feels like the weekends we used to have doesn't it?" and my heart was torn in two but then I knew I had made the right decision to step away for a breather.

Motivational comments will be more than welcome!
Lots of Love Jo xxx

  1. How wonderful to see your girls working along side you. It's so good for youngsters to learn life skills that will stand them in good stead when they're older. When it's all finished they can be so proud of themselves. Best, Jane :)

  2. What a joy to see you ALL working together to make a home for yourselves that you can be proud of. Learning new skills and knowing that you have all contributed makes so many wonderful memories that you can ALL look back on and enjoy. A home made with love.

  3. Your girls won't know it yet but they will appreciate all those passed on skills and 'can do' attitude one day. I mean 'WOW'! it's a house now. You can afford to take a step back for a while. Sometimes we as parents are torn and we do need to compromise. I think it's a good thing to retreat with the girls for a bit, then maybe have a chat before a deep breath and back to work.

The family stuff is important though - some families always enjoy time together, even when growing up/grown up, so it is a very worthy investment spending some time with the girls. They and you will be thankful for it. You should all be proud and have achieved such a lot already. The house will be completed soon enough too, it's looking great. Well done.

  4. You have all worked so hard on this build. You must be really proud of your hubby, and of course thankful that your dad was so forward thinking in collecting a lot of good materials to help with this. This is a family project, that will soon be your new home.
I love the name of the glue. Really made me laugh. ( hope it doesn't smell like it. ) haha.

  5. Stepping away for a while is a good thing. I am glad you've been able to recharge your batteries a bit and spend some time with the girls and your mum, doing things you all enjoy (maybe even the homework). The work you are doing in the house is phenomenal, I am so impressed. It is no doubt hard work but I am sure some lovely memories are built, too. Have a lovely week xx

  6. This is the third time I have tried to comment - hope you don’t get multiple versions!!

Just wanted to say - we found that doing up an old house can easily get on top of you. There is always so much to do and it can seem endless. Having a break is exactly the right thing to do, to get some perspective. Just keep thinking how great it will be when you have your new home *and* your leisurely weekends back as well!

It’s going to be such a happy house - I can feel it.

  7. Wow. Your new home is looking fabulous Jo. I particularly like the rustic wood around the front door. I'm impressed with all of your effort and teamwork. The girls will look back on this time with fondness and pride in time.

  8. It is really all taking shape now, I love the entrance it is very grand. You have done an amazing job so far and taking time to be fully mum again is wonderful too but I am sure all the skills the girls have been learning are of incredible value to them. Also not something every child gets to experience so a positive time for them too. Take care all of you. x

  9. You're making such a beautiful job of the house, and it is good for your girls to see it all come together I think. But I'm glad you had a lovely weekend as well, it sounds perfect. All the hard work will be worth in the end. Hound is looking very handsome these days.
