THE stair basket

Making is slow going at the moment, I have a bad shoulder so I can only do about four rows of knitting or crochet before my arm aches so I am amusing you with other delights.

I often do a fun post on the contents of our stairs basket, a humorous look at our family detritus. Living in a three story house requires a great deal of re homing of objects and the basket serves as a holding bay for things that don't quite warrant a full trip up both sets of stairs.

As the children have gone back to school today now seems a perfect time to get some exercise and put some things away.

Bangles, flower corsages, sunglasses, pens, bits of childrens sewing, nail varnish, bug catcher, door stop, hole punch, hair clips, a water pistol, ball, holiday tickets to scrapbook, Meg's watch before it had a new strap, one walkie talkie, paintbrush, bath sharks, hair donut and all the little bits in between.

I bet you have a drawer, bowl or place full of your families bits and pieces. Maybe today is the day to give it a sort out.

  1. You poor lady. It is not fun when the arm /wrist fingers say no. It is so frustrating . I had a similar thing last year and I found going to utube of all places helped. There are loads of good videos that can help .
I certainly do have a drawer of bits and bobs but unlike you I never go in there to sort it out as it would take far too long. Have a lovely day

  3. I have my 'drawer of doom' instead of a stair basket!
I hope your shoulder is steadily improving, it must be so frustrating not being able to make the things you want to make. x

  5. I've been sorting out our loft. I have literally picked up every item in there and decided whether it should be kept, chuched or given to charity. I am trying to finish the last few boxes before the cold weather arrives as I hate going up there in the winter.

  7. Does the entire kitchen peninsula count as a catch-all space? It should because mine is always covered in junk, ha. I go through it every day and try to make people put things away, with mixed results. I loved seeing what you capture in the stair basket. I have no stairs, so no stair basket, but I am sure it would be chock-full if I did!

  8. I love the thought of rumbling through other people's baskets. It's trying to decide who owns what.....

  9. I frequently have a stack of things on the stairs that are waiting for me to make a trip up. Hope your shoulder feels better.

  10. My room is a cozy catch all clutter spot in the house. The resident spiders delight in festooning my possessions in their crafty webs. Your stair basket sort out inspires me to do some sorting and cleaning. Thanks, Jo! xxxx
