It is funny because if all the things I make and do, this is the one that blows me away the most. Growing our own food and processing it ourselves will never leave me as one of the most wondrous things I do with my time.
You want to see how proud I am this season?
Parsnips next... we'll be glad of a change from courgettes! And the next generation of gardeners? We've got that covered.
Happy Harvest Jo xxx
I agree with you :)) At this time of the year we are just planting out our summer vegies, but still have amazing winter veg to eat... With the price of food sky rocketing , how blessed we are to have it growing in our back yard.. Well done with your crops....:))
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean! We have dabbled before but this summer we moved and took our chickens with us to a garden that offers us much more possibilities. Even getting the odd courgette this year makes me soon proud. I can't even imagine how you feel with that haul!
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing like the feeling of growing your own veg or the taste. You certainly have a harvest to be proud of and a beautiful family.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great post you really made me smile with this one.

Wow! That's awesome! I can imagine how wonderful that must feel to grow all that beautiful and amazing food. There's nothing like fresh picked too. We've had some success with gardens in the past but nothing seems to grow well where we live now. But, we keep trying. We're working on whole new raised bed project right now. We'll keep our fingers crossed. Have a wonderful weekend! :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's a great feeling being able to grow some of your own food. Even better if the kids get involved.
ReplyDeleteYou have done so well growing so much this year!! I hope that the parsnips are lovely - I do love roast parsnips with a sunday dinner! xx
ReplyDeleteIt's so wonderful to grow Youe own food. I'm hoping to start my garden again next year. We moved this year n I haven't been able to do annoying. Your harvest looks wonderful Jo.
ReplyDeleteWow! I would be proud of that harvest too!
ReplyDeleteHi Jo! Can I pick your brain? I've got a freezer full of tomatoes that I picked and threw into the freezer whole. I'd like to make fresh pasta sauce out of them. I know that when they start to thaw I can slip the skins off easily (a tip someone told me but I haven't tried yet). Do you have any advice or recipe for what to do next? Just add spice and simmer until it's a bit thick?
ReplyDeleteI have used this recipe before http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/basictomatoandbasils_67840
DeleteI used canned tomatoes because here in the UK I have NEVER had a tomato glut. I am very jealous of yours. You will need to add the other ingredients mentioned as frozen tomatoes lose a bit of flavour when you freeze them a bit. Good Luck
So true! Nothing beats home grown. Bee xx
