Happy Colours Blanket

Just checking in with my latest new project - yes, I know so many on the go at present but I like the variety at the moment and it is not frustrating me...yet!

My friend is having a baby which is a surprise to all of us, including her and her husband! so I chose a baby blanket project to enjoy through the year. I like a crochet-on-the-go project and little circles are perfect for that.

I was keen because I had a few balls of stylecraft leftovers hiding in a drawer to use up as part of my stash diet 2017. The mustard is from my last baby blanket, the red is an unusual red which I like, this was in a donated bag and the rest are bits of stylecraft which I use when I am teaching crochet which I am happy to use up.

I used my trusty block as you go method of getting a crisp square in preparation for joining them.

I don't know the sex of the baby so a palette of happy colours will be just fine. I have made one purchase - another ball of white to join it all together. It is May and this is my first purchase of the year but that is fine with me because it has a specific purpose. Whoop!

Made 12, maybe 12 more to go. You know me, not following the pattern, just making it up as I go along...

Are you crocheting at the moment?

  1. I love this! I've had that blanket pinned for the longest time - just love the pretty circles in the white squares. The colours you're using look so nice and happy - it's going to be a lovely blanket!

  2. Jo they are so neat. Love the colours you are quite right bright and happy. Well done on your stash diet. Unfortunately I don't have your self control with not buying for my crafts.

    1. Hi, The pattern is from Boho Crochet by Marinke Slump. A book with a collection of useful but beautiful crochet mostly for the home. Nothing too twee and nothing that is useless.

  7. I love these squares, Jo. I was just thinking a few weeks ago how much I would enjoy making a baby blanket with bullseye type squares after I saw one on Ravelry that I really liked. Yours is so cute, I love those bright colors. How exciting to have a new baby in your life to make things for!

  8. Lovely! I am crocheting a baby blanket in blue and white variegated Debbie Bliss acrylic baby yarn..double crochet, single crochet repeat across. I love how soft the yarn is but am not keen on how the variegated colors are pooling so far...hoping it will improve as I go :) xx

  11. I really like that. I've heard that pattern called bull's-eye before, the dense circle in a square. Your blocking on the go technique is genius!
