It went something like - every time there is bright blue there is a row of mustard, every three or four rows there is a row of cream/beige. In between I just took it free and easy with lilac. purple, mocha and brown. One 25g ball did two rows which makes up each stripe.
The stitch is 1dc, 1tr, 1dc, 1tr etc. Then on the next row you put the treble in the double crochet and the double crochet in the treble - Got that?? It is called cobble stitch. I can't think of a more apt name for my blanket as it is a bit cobbled together without a pattern.
It has a purpose, it is a wedding present for August. I hope they have many happy times picnicing, chatting and watching the clouds go by. I think I will buy them a flask to wrap up with it.
Happy crochet. Jo x

ReplyDeleteWow Jo, what a fab Wedding Gift. The colours go so well together. Thanks for the stitch pattern. Being quite new to crochet I wondered how that effect was made.

Jo, I love it! Did it take you long to do? I never really understand sewing in the ends, doesn't it just come lose over time...? It is something that has always confused me! I am knitting a blanket made up of small squares, and I will have to sew in the ends, but there are a lot of ends to sew in! But I will worry about it when I come to it, I guess! Ha ha. I love the colours you chose here and it is such a lovely wedding gift. Well done. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful gift, the person who gave you the balls of wool will be really impressed with what you've made with them I'm sure, and you've got very lucky friends :-) I like the pattern but randomness of it, not too strict but not too crazy!
