In the period between lockdowns we did our shopping quite locally all masked up but keen to get out and support local people. Little one wanted some hand knitted socks because since we have started living on a small holding she has lived in wellies. She chose this yarn from Yarn in the Hills in Church Stretton.
Sometimes a variegated yarn is disappointing when it is knit up but not this one - it is a real corker.
I was in no hurry to knit them, just half an hour here and there.
The pattern is from A Colourful life blog. I like Christina's no nonsense sock pattern and for this one I cast on 60 sts instead of 64 and adjusted everything accordingly. The sizing worked out perfectly for a Child's UK size 2 shoe.
Stay Safe. Jo xxxx
Jo, I am getting all caught up on your blog and your gifts are so amazing. Your beautiful new home looks lovely with all your decorations. You have been busy my friend. I hope you stay safe with the new restriction your way. At least your government is smart to make them, in Florida people are still walking around and not wearing masks correctly, it is ridiculous. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteThey look really lovely Jo. So cheerful and appropriate for 2020 xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous wool and I dare say being DK they were quick to knit. Love sock knitting :) B x
ReplyDeleteThey are adorable and I am betting super warm. I am in awe of your ability to knit socks.
ReplyDeleteThey look fabulous and I love that yarn, such a great choice. I keep being teased with hand knitted socks in blogland at the moment. I might just have to dust off my needles and give them another try. X
ReplyDeleteHow spooky, both of us writing about sock knitting! I love these rainbow socks, they are fun. I have never used self-striping yarn for socks because (and I know it is silly) it stresses me out not to know in advance what the final product looks like. So glad you like my patterns. Have a good week xx
ReplyDeleteI agree this variegated version is a real corker
ReplyDeleteSocks look fab. Love the random colourfulness of the yarn you used. I'm sure they will be very proudly worn over the coming months.
ReplyDeleteI love using Opal yarn, my friend calls it "the Rolls Royce of sock yarns", and I LOVE knitting with self-striping yarn, it really motivates me to keep on to the next stripe and I find they knit up in no time. x
ReplyDeleteThese are fab! The rainbow yarn is so cool.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jo, because you reminded me I wanted to cast on some socks (portable project for lunch breaks at work) and that I'd planned to use Christina's no nonsense sock pattern! Mine are a more boring grey though :-)
