"Yes if I put down what I am about to start and help you." I thought.
I suggested this fabric because the border was left over from a big piece and it was a tricky piece of fabric to use up. We found a matching T-shirt and then it sort of got more creative. She cut out leaves and circles for the top. (I had to applique those on with the machine myself)
Big Sis enjoyed learning about gathers and putting them on in a straight line in two rows. She loves it and said "I love it when you spend time with me." So my sewing project will have to wait until another time because... I love spending time with her too.
Thanks for looking. Jo xxxx
Great idea alzo for a skirt I have! I ve just to find out a t shirt matching!
ReplyDeletePriceless moments growing up! Very creative indeed. You know one day she won't need your help per se, so enjoy these moments.
ReplyDeleteWhat a star you have there. And a lovely new outfit too. Priceless K xXx
ReplyDeleteWell done big sis, very stylish.
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool Jo. It is nice to share an interest with your children, isn't it? Big Sis will be asking for her own sewing machine soon.... x
ReplyDeleteA great idea well made. I could see myself wearing one of those, a very fast make and just right for summer.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful job Big Sis! I'm thinking I might even be able to make that! I think the appliques look great.
ReplyDeleteThat is adorable.
ReplyDeleteOh my, she is really getting good at this stuff. I love how the dress turned out. The appliques are the perfect finishing touch, I think. She (and you) did a wonderful job.

ReplyDeleteWhat a clever girl - takes after her mum!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet post! The dress turned out beautifully and how nice that you made it together. The stuff memories are made of.
ReplyDeleteLovely dress!! Your daughter is very creative like you :)
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely enjoy every second! Mum mum used to help me with all my projects when I was little, then she sed one day she woke up and I knew what the next step was before she did! X
ReplyDeleteIt's perfect! I definitely think you might have struggled to use that gorgeous fabric up in anything else!
ReplyDeleteLove the applique too!
Doesn't she just look lovely in her new dress. Perfect use of fabric. And time well spent with each other.

Yes, the biggest gift of all that we can give to our children is time - and ourselves. Something many children just don't get. Beautiful work as well I might add. Pretty as a picture too.
ReplyDeleteAaahhhh, that's cute what she said, makes it worth spending the time when they come out with things like that. And didn't she do a great job! My daughter is exactly the same - you can guarantee just as I am about to spend some quality 'me' time, she wants to learn how to do something. We just have to remember to enjoy the time we have with them, as all too soon they grow up! Xx

ReplyDeleteYay you did it!!! She loves her present and the card was perfect. Love Jo x
DeleteIf you want the next generation of sewers, you need to get them sewing. And whatever you were making takes second place to spending time together. (there's always midnight?!)
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute!! I'm always happy to hear when younger kids want to learn to sew. She'll be wanting her own machine soon!!!!!!!!!!!!
